McQueen Boutique Becomes A Sidewalk Shrine

The Alexander McQueen boutique on West 14th Street will reopen for business today after a two day mourning period for its namesake designer. In the intervening days, the shop's window has become a shrine of sorts to the designer who apparently took his own life on Thursday. Showing how powerful McQueen had become as a design influence, bereft fans have left flowers, candles and other tributes much like one would expect after the death of a movie star or spors hero.
We expect the store will be busy going forward with customers hoping to get a piece of one of his final collections.
