As the weather finally shifts toward Autumn, we can count on the Sample Sale Season to reach another peak in only about six or seven more weeks at the most. In the meantime, there are plenty of smaller sales peppering the calendar to keep us all busy, and this week is no different. Here's a sampling:

Lets start with what's underneath. For gentlemen who are not satisfied with three-a-pack mighty whites, Swiss innerwear label HANRO is hosing a two day sale featuring its luxurious underpants and sleepwear alongside those from similarly luxurious label HOM. M.Patmos Announces A One-Day Hurricane Relief Sample Sale On Wednesday

Click image to view in a larger window

The rate at which brutal hurricanes have been making landfall this season has been alarming to say the least, and while we seem to be relatively protected here in New York City (so far, anyway) you can't ignore the devastation which recalls our own experience with Superstorm Sandy a few years ago, but magnified to a horrifying degree. Designer Marcia Patmos is doing her part this week by  joining with a group of other like-minded fashion folk to announce a one-day-only multi-designer sample sale to benefit relief efforts for Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, probably Maria and whoever else is to come before the season's end.
On Wednesday, September 20th at Project No. 8's Orchard Street shop the sale will run from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and will include merchandise from New York designers and stores like Daryl K, À Detacher, Zero Maria Cornejo, Saturdays NYC, INA, Creatures of Comfort among others along with M.Patmos, of course. Drinks are promised after 6 as well as a live DJ set and other entertainments. A full list of participants can be found in the flyer pictured above along with a list of recipients who will receive 100% of the proceeds. Consider it a great way to give assistance to people in desperate need and, as an added plus, you probably won't have to hear anyone sing "Hallelujah" one more time. That alone is worth showing up for.

End Of Summer Sale Surge With Charlotte Olympia, Sferra, Loro Piana & More

It's been a little slow on the sale front for the past few weeks as the regular designer sales peter off at Summer's end, but we still have a few more days of the season left, and this week reminds us that even when the ready-to-wear sale cycle is in a downturn, there are always sales that will pick up the slack.

This week, savvy shoe shoppers will be streaming to the Warwick Hotel starting on Tuesday for CHARLOTTE OLYMPIA's sale which is promising a hefty 70% discount on her signature shoes and handbags.

Also on Tuesday, our friends at 260SampleSale are featuring sporty Brazilian fashion brand OSKLEN in their SoHo location and contemporary women's label PARKER at its Fifth Avenue home base.

On Wednesday, the Chelsea Market will off a dual sale on seasonless goods from two popular brands. SFERRA, the esteemed Italian bed and bath brand will selling its sumptuous sheets and towels alongside RIEDEL's precisely crafted stem and crystalware.

If you can hold out until Sunday, you will be prepared for LORO PIANA's seasonal extravaganza at Soiffer Haskin. Luxury fans know this as a chance to get some magnificent cashmere sweaters and scarves for prices that are only about half as jaw-draping as usual. Prepare to surrender all of your personal belongings while you shop.

It's Time For The Big Opening Ceremony Sale

Opening-Ceremony-FlyerThere's no more bittersweet signal for shoppers that summer is coming to a close than the big OPENING CEREMONY clearance sale (Click on the flyer at right) which, like clockwork, is happening this weekend, the last one before Labor Day. As the innovative retailer/wholesaler has become increasingly popular, its offsite final clearance sale has generated more interest and even longer lines. While it bounced around various Manhattan locations for several seasons, the sale has now comfortably settled into a regular location at the Williamsburg, Brooklyn club Villain. While the selection can be hit or miss, the process are usually exceptional, especially on Sunday when they typically get another deep discount. The good news is that the weather looks favorable through the weekend, so make sure to have a good audiobook loaded on your phone.

Although OC tends to cap off the clearance season, that's not the only sale around this week. THE SHOE BOX has taken over 260 Fifth Avenue through the weekend with its seasonal blowout of shoes and more shoes along with apparel and handbags.

Emerging designer ROSETTA GETTY will be opening her showroom today only for 80% savings on apparel and swimwear, and popular contemporary brand TUCKER will be taking up to a whopping 90% off its wares in the far western reaches of Chelsea on Friday and Saturday.

Sachin + Babi, Bonobos & Jack Rogers Lead This Week's Sample Sales

Mid-August is not typically high season for sample sales, but the shopping circuit is not totally on hiatus. it turns out that there still are a few coveted labels with stock to get rid of just in time for a late-summer wardrobe boost.

Popular contemporary designer label SACHIN + BABI is in the middle of a three-day sale in the Garment District featuring 80% discounts on samples and stock for anyone in need (or want) of a chic late-summer party frock through Wednesday

Starting today, the standard-bearer for well-fitting men's trousers, BONOBOS has returned to 260 Fifth Avenue and will be offering its full range of apparel and accessories from the Spring-Summer season at deep discounts and typically including some excellent deals through Sunday

Classic summer sandal brand JACK ROGERS is once again opening its showroom to offer its famous woven leather slides among other accessories, handbags and apparel from a host of contemporary labels starting today through Friday —just in time to grab one more pair of thongs for the last few weeks of Summer.

For one day only, model Liya Kebede will be offering savings on her own Ethiopia-based label LEMLEM which includes contemporary sportswear and dresses in vibrant prints and colors.

See out SALE ROLL sidebar at left for more details as well as any late-breaking sales we discover. Next week, look for scheduled sales from The Shoe Box and Dolce Vita and more as we head toward Labor Day.

Bottega Veneta Leads This Week's Small But Potent Sample Sale Schedule

As we head into High Summer, we can usually expect the sample sale schedule to lighten up, and we even skipped a few weeks here and there of doing our weekly sale roundup, but sharp-eyed shoppers know that this is also the time of year when a long awaited sale can quietly pop-up with relatively little fanfare. That's the case this week with the BOTTEGA VENETA sale, which returns to Metropolitan Pavilion today for a three-day stint. Look for all categories including men's and women's apparel, accessories, bags and shoes and even the relatively affordable sunglasses.

Also starting today, ADAM LIPPES will be opening his NoMad showroom up for the same three days featuring his women's designer ready-to-wear collection at 70% off retail. The resilient designer has weathered some challenges over the years, but has wound up pretty much where he belongs heading his own luxury collection with a growing cult of followers.

On the more broadly appealing contemporary front, JB will be taking up residence at 260SampleSale's home base on Fifth Avenue featuring their crowd pleasing jeans and sportswear and bets are on a good selection of their signature biker pants. Shop today through Sunday.

That's not all. Last week's CREMIEUX sale has been extended through this week for everyone looking for a little bit of French preppy style. Keep an eye on our SALE ROLL sidebar at left for specific hours and locations, updates and late breaking sales.

The Steven Alan Sale Is Here Along With More Sferra, More Theory, Marchesa & More

It's time for another longtime heavy hitter sale, and this week it's STEVEN ALAN's turn at 150 Greene Street in SoHo (pictured above). This retailer/wholesaler's seasonal clearances used to incite frenzy and endless lines when he held them himself in his Tribeca showroom. Since he has ceded operational responsibilities for the sale to 260SampleSale, the frenzy has subsided a bit but it is still a potent draw. As always there is an abundance of the label's own famous men's shirts alongside private label merchandise for both genders as well as random selections form fashion forward third party labels. The main difference this season is what appears to be a lighter density of merchandise. Perhaps they are hiding back a bit to ensure goods for business throughout the weekend, but shoe and accessory offerings were substantially lighter than they have been in the past, and apparel was much less densely packed on the racks. Still, there are great buys to be found especially with all third party goods priced at a flat 75% off original prices and house label items priced at a similar discount —just don't expect the abundance you have seen in past seasons.

Steven Alan isn't the only fame in town, of course. Yesterday brought a 3-day showroom blowout from glittery eveningwear label MARCHESA which has promised deep savings from both the main runway collection and the more commercial Notte line. Samples and stock will both be included  for those in need of an extravagant one-of-a-kind entrance making gown.

THEORY is back again too. This time it's at Clothingline in the Garment District. It's the buyer beware sale featuring samples and slight irregulars. There's always a bit of caveat emptor with this one, because quality of construction is not always guaranteed for a number of reasons. Sometimes the prices will make it worth the gamble. Shop through Thursday.

SFERRA will also be returning for another shot, this time at Soiffer-Haskin near Penn Station. It's hard to know whether or not this  location brings out better goods than other sales Sferra holds regularly through 260SampleSale or with Privé at Chelsea Market, but they like to spread around the love and the label more than meets the luxury level we typically find at Soiffer Haskin sales. At the very least, good prices on fine Italian sheets and bedding are always worth a good look.

Speaking of legendary names, the HALSTON HERITAGE label will be offering savings of up to 80% off original prices at its sale at 151 Wooster Street in SoHo starting today. Look for complete offerings of apparel, accessories and shoes through the weekend.

Be sure to keep an eye on our SALE ROLL sidebar at left for times, locations and any breaking sales we find. Next week 's schedule is broken by the 4th of July, but be sure to tune in for more news of upcoming events. There are still plenty of designers we haven't yet heard from this season, so there's more shopping ahead.
