10 MORE REPS: Equinox To Makeover Downtown Tower Records

Just when you thought it would be forever condemned to hosting a series of pop-up shops, The Observer has announced that Equinox, the ubiquitous upscale gym chain, will take over 20,000 square feet of the widely loved but long gone Tower Records that spanned East 4^th Street between Broadway and Lafayette Street. Ultimately, a gym is probably the best use for this weirdly shaped parcel of real estate, though reports have Equinox leaving one end of the store unoccupied, so there will still be a bit of storefront left available. It will also give the chain a perfect platform to compete with the still popular Lafayette Street Crunch.
