10 MORE REPS: Equinox To Makeover Downtown Tower Records
May 17, 2010
Just when you thought it would be forever condemned to hosting a series of pop-up shops, The Observer has announced that Equinox, the ubiquitous upscale gym chain, will take over 20,000 square feet of the widely loved but long gone Tower Records that spanned East 4th Street between Broadway and Lafayette Street. Ultimately, a gym is probably the best use for this weirdly shaped parcel of real estate, though reports have Equinox leaving one end of the store unoccupied, so there will still be a bit of storefront left available. It will also give the chain a perfect platform to compete with the still popular Lafayette Street Crunch.
