Duane Reade Launches A Beer Bar On The West Side

For the past year New York has been watching Duane Reade transform its stores to a new, sleeker, easier to shop prototype, as well as open new flagships. We thought we were pretty familiar with the chain's new features, but it surprised us again over the weekend when it unveiled it's new store at Broadway and 72nd Street next door to Trader Joe's. This is the first Duane Reade we have seen with a bar.

Of course, they aren't exactly serving up cocktails. There aren't even any stools, so it's really more of a beer counter with a draught and shelves full of growlers to fill. Hopefully, we won't be seeing drunken revelers hanging out in this 24-hour flagship sized store, but if anyone gets overserved and needs medical attention, there's a convenient walk-in doctor's office upstairs.

Rite Aid, CVS, it's your move.
