Launches A Sale From
Celebrated Socialite Chessy Rayner
November 4, 2011
Though burgeoning home furnishings site One Kings Lane has been doing quite well with its regular flash sales, it, like many of its competitors, has lately expanded into more specialized events partnering with prominent interior designers to offer exclusive products alongside its selection of bargains. This Saturday, November 5th, it is raising the bar with a special sale of merchandise from one of the great tastemakers of the late 20th century. Chessy Rayner was not only a mainstay on the glittering New York social scene, but with her business partner Mica Ertegun and her impressive web of fashion and social connections she became an enormously influential interior decorator. Though she passed away at 66 in 1998, her estate is making an impressive cache of about 750 items available to One Kings Lane customers for 72 hours starting on Saturday.
Items range from caftans and books to Christofle tea and coffeepots to antique furniture to a set of Louis Vuitton Luggage. Everything is from her personal collection, gathered from her homes in Manhattan, Southampton, Palm Beach and St. Maarten. Usually these sorts of things go to auction houses or dealers (and probably the most valuable pieces from her estate did), but here they have been kept together to offer shoppers a glimpse into Mrs. Rayner's unique taste and sensibilities.
The sale can be previewed on One Kings Lane HERE and runs through Monday. If you need an invitation, click HERE).
