There is a bumper crop of sample sales this week, and it's genuinely one of those times when there is something for everyone —and if there isn't, then just wait another week. Things actually got started yesterday as ALICE + OLIVIA's seasonal bonanza at 260 Fifth Avenue. We understand that the lines were impressive, but they should shrink dramatically toward the middle of the week. For the home, SFERRA reappeared on the schedule only a few weeks after its last sale, but after several seasons at Chelsea Market, the luxury linen brand has upgraded to the more rarefied venue of Soiffer Haskin. Unfortunately, they should have waited until there was more to sell, because most of what was available looked like it was recycled from the previous sale, so you may not want to go running over to 33rd Street if you git what you needed last time around. Here are some more sales to look out for as the week progresses:
Get ready for a more lines in the garment district as TORY BURCH returns to Clothingline on 36th Street today the 10th for the rest of the week. This is an event that people plan for, so expect crowds and bring plenty of patience if you are a Burch fan.
If you don't have the time to brave that rabid crowd, walk a block south for NANETTE LEPORE's sale which, after a bit of schedule shuffling, finally opens today as well. Expect to find samples and stock for the current season and, well, maybe more crowds.
Midtown too busy? You will find stilettos for her and luxe sneakers for him are what you can expect to find at ALEJANDRO INGELMO's sale also starting today in SoHo —and that's just Tuesday.
Our first stop on Wednesday will be at CAPUTO & Co. in the Meatpacking District. His belts and bags (pictured above) are well priced on any day, but at 80% off, they should be hard to resist, plus, as an up-and-comer, his crowds may not be such a problem yet.
There will probably be no such luck at HELMUT LANG at Chelsea Market. The label is undergoing a transition, so if you are a fan of what Michael and Nicole Colovos have been designing for the label over the past few years, you only have a couple more seasons left before a new designer takes over, so now's your chance to stock up.
Missed out on the ICB and J.PRESS sales last month at the Onward Kashiyama showroom? Well, it's back on Wednesday! This time it promises to include archive pieces and damaged items which may be why they are promising 90% off. Still, it may be you last chance to pick up some of the Ovadia Brothers' last YORK STREET collection.
And that's just a select sampling. There will also be plenty of summer dresses at SHOSHANNA and TOCCA, denim from JAMES JEANS, directional looks from NICHOLAS K, and women's sportswear from ANNI KUAN. As usual, you will find all the details about these sales and more in out SALE ROLL at left. If you aren't broke by the end of this week, save up for next week which brings busy sales from REBECCA TAYLOR, ALEXIS BITTAR, ISAIA and a team-up of hot, young labels led by TIMO WEILAND.
