SAMPLE CIRCUIT: Shop With The Slender At The Kooples' First New York Sample Sale + BVLGARI & Costello Tagliapietra

Now that April has hit, you can expect the Sample Sale schedule to start heating up fast. This week is still leisurely, but one label has taken advantages of the last few days of lull to launch its first sample sale. There's nothing hotter in retail these days than French casual sportswear, and THE KOOPLES is one of its most successful proponents. As the label proceeds to proliferate throughout the city with its own his n'hers boutiques its first entry into the sample sale fray opened today at 152 Wooster Street in SoHo. At the spacious space last night, The Shophound found the brand's sleek sportswear arrayed in abundance at savings of about 60% to 70% off retail. All product categories were represented including shoes and accessories with a particularly appealing selection of leather jackets (pictured above) at great prices. Fans of that offhand, eclectic Hedi Slimane-inspired look would do well to head to SoHo and stock up through the weekend. One caveat is the reminder that The Kooples is a French label still cut for the French market meaning that it is a great fit for the slim and slender, and less so for everyone else. Sadly, the assortments also appeared to skew on the medium to small side, even though there appeared to be plenty of goods to keep the sale stocked for the week. Shoppers looking for luxury will be heading to Soiffer Haskin in West Midtown for BVLGARI's blowout. Shoppers should be warned that this sale will focus more on fragrances and accessories than dazzling jewels, although a limited selection of watches and jewelry are promised. Runs through Friday the 10th.

Finally, fans of independent fashion will be marking tomorrow on their calendars for COSTELLO TAGLIAPIETRA's two-day Sample Sale in the Garment District. Though the duo are famous for their rugged  lumberjack personal style, that are unlikely experts in creating some of New York's most luxuriously elegant dresses. If sleek draping and deceptively simple cuts are your thing, then don't miss this one , which promises both samples and stock sizes as well as shoes at up to 90% off. It doesn't get better than that.
