Zegna Will Take Its Flagship To The Crown Building

Pratesi vs. Frette This Week plus Opening Ceremony's Big Event Returns To Williamsburg

Again, it's not a big sample sale week, but it's March already, so it's really only a few more weeks before things start getting hectic again. Still, the week is not without its worthwhile events.

Merino wool-based activewear ICEBREAKER is making its sample sale debut at 260 Sample Sale through Saturday, just in time for skiers and other winter athletes to stock up on sports apparel items that are promised not to itch like you think they will.

Down at C21 Edition, Candle freaks are lined up as you read this for the 3-day DIPTYQUE Sample Sale. generally, the discount is about 50%, but whether it is worth your time depends on how much time you want to spend in line to save a few bucks on scented candles. Only you will know if this is a good use of your time.

Starting tomorrow, Italian linen maestro FRETTE returns to Chelsea Market with its luxurious bedding, towels and bath accessories and other home items. As this is a sale where people often exit laden with bags stuffed with pillows and heavy blankets, host Privé is offering $25 flat rate shipping anywhere in the U.S. directly from the sale —a new development that could catch on at similar events.

On Saturday the 5th, rival PRATESI will take up its seasonal residence at Soiffer-Haskin through the following Tuesday with its own luxury linen markdowns that brings out a faithful crowd of bedding enthusiasts every time. Use the weekend to shop one sale against the other, but remember, even at a deep discount, both labels are known to be uncommonly pricey.

The big event for the week starts on Friday the 4th when OPENING CEREMONY finally unveils its seasonal warehouse sale.
We have all been waiting for this one, and now we can cross it off our list of M.I.A. sample sales. Again, the cutting edge designer store is holding its sale in trendy Williamsburg while the L train is still running. Most sale fanatics are familiar with the OC sale, so expect to find a broad assortment of adventurous designers mixed with more well-known names including a healthy helping of the store's popular house label (pictured above from Fall 2015). Shoes and accessories are always well represented as well as books and other home items. Generally, the sale is regularly ransacked pretty quickly, but those who wait for the last day will always find some kind of rock-bottom deal as the prices get slashed to 90% off and even more. Expect an enthusiastic crowd at any and all times.

Finally, If you have inspired by the Oscars to get a sparkly gown, eveningwear master  NAEEM KHAN will be starting a three-day sample sale in the Garment District starting Sunday that promises up to 80% off his gleaming gowns that have been worn by numerous red carpet regulars up to and including the First Lady.

Keep an eye on our SALE ROLL sidebar at left for details and locations as well as any late-breaking events that arise at the last minute.
